Every candidate completes a take-home technical test relevant to your stack, followed by a live coding or architecture discussion. We see the results before you do — we only forward candidates who meet the bar.

Communication Screening

Async written English assessment and a video call evaluated for clarity, listening, and the ability to push back constructively. Technical competence without communication is a liability in a distributed team.

Reference Verification

We contact previous employers and project leads directly — not just the references the candidate provided. A pattern of context-switching or incomplete project delivery is visible in reference calls, not CVs.

Timezone Alignment

India-based engineers working your overlap hours by default. For UK/US clients, we place engineers who have proven experience working in IST-to-BST or IST-to-EST overlap.

HR, Payroll & Compliance

We handle employment contracts, payroll, PF, ESIC, and all statutory compliance. You receive a single monthly invoice. No HR administration, no compliance exposure.

Questions we get before every staff augmentation project

How quickly can we get a developer?
For common roles — React, Node.js, Python, QA — we typically deliver a shortlist within 72 hours of receiving the requirement. For more specialised roles (Rust, Go, specific ML frameworks), allow 5–7 business days. We tell you at the brief stage if your requirement is unusual.
What's the difference between staff augmentation and outsourcing?
Augmentation means the engineer works as part of your team — your processes, your tools, your management. Outsourcing means you hand a project to another team and receive deliverables. Augmentation is better when you need to maintain oversight, integrate with an existing codebase, or build institutional knowledge. We provide augmentation — the engineer works in your Slack, joins your standups, and reports to your engineering lead.
What if the engineer doesn't work out?
Within the first 30 days, we replace at no additional cost. After 30 days, we replace on a 14-day notice period, during which we prepare the next candidate. We've built a handover process that minimises the disruption of a transition — project documentation standards that make knowledge transfer faster.
What hourly or monthly rates should we expect?
Mid-level engineers (3–5 years): ₹1,20,000–₹1,80,000/month. Senior engineers (5–8 years): ₹1,80,000–₹2,80,000/month. Staff and principal engineers (8+ years): ₹2,80,000–₹4,50,000/month. These are all-inclusive rates — our margin, engineer salary, and all statutory costs. For UK/US clients, we work in GBP/USD. Contact us for international pricing.
Can we hire the engineer permanently after the augmentation period?
Yes, with a placement fee — standard industry practice. The fee is lower the longer the augmentation engagement has run. If you want to hire directly from the start, we also offer a permanent placement service.
How do you handle IP protection and NDAs?
Every engineer signs an NDA and an IP assignment agreement before starting work. All work product created during the engagement belongs to your company. We also maintain secure development environment standards and can work within your existing security policies.
We're a UK/US company. How does the timezone work?
IST overlaps with BST by 4.5 hours (morning UK / afternoon India) and with EST by 3 hours (morning India / evening US East Coast). We place engineers who have experience working in these overlap windows and who manage async communication well. Most of our international clients find the overlap sufficient for standups and code reviews, with async communication covering the rest.
What seniority levels do you provide?
Junior (1–2 years), Mid-level (3–5 years), Senior (5–8 years), Staff/Principal (8+ years), and Tech Lead/Architect. We'll be direct about which level is available for your requirement and timeline — if you need a Staff engineer in 72 hours, that's a harder ask than a Mid-level.
What is staff augmentation vs outsourcing — which is right for us?
Staff augmentation means an individual engineer joins your existing team — working in your Slack, your sprint, reporting to your engineering lead. Outsourcing means you hand a project to an external team and receive deliverables. Choose augmentation when you need to maintain oversight, build institutional knowledge, or integrate with an existing codebase. Choose outsourcing when the work is a defined, separable project with clear deliverables. Many companies do both: augmentation for ongoing product development, outsourced project teams for specific initiatives. We offer both models.
How do UK and US companies legally hire remote developers from India?
Through a staff augmentation or employer-of-record arrangement with an Indian company — not direct employment. Spacelinkers employs the engineers under Indian law, handles payroll, PF, ESIC, and statutory compliance, and you receive a monthly invoice. You're contracting with a UK-to-India service provider, not employing someone across jurisdictions. The engineers sign NDAs and IP assignment agreements directly. This is the standard model used by thousands of UK and US companies working with Indian engineering teams — legally clean and audited.
