Source code ownership on delivery

Who this is for

You either have a business process that off-the-shelf software can't handle, or you're building a product and need an engineering team that can own the outcome — not just execute tickets.

Most software projects fail because the architecture decision is made too early, by the wrong person, under time pressure. We start every engagement with a structured discovery phase that produces a written architecture document before any code is written — so your team, your future engineers, and your investors all know what you're building and why.

We've built internal ERP tools for manufacturers, multi-tenant SaaS platforms for fintech startups, data pipelines for analytics companies, and custom CRM systems for professional services firms. The pattern across all of them: the client had a requirement that didn't fit Salesforce, SAP, or any off-the-shelf product. That's where we work.

Founders building a SaaS product and needing an external engineering team to own the build

Operations leads whose business process is too bespoke for any existing software

CTOs who need to augment their team for a specific platform or integration project

Businesses replacing legacy systems that are 10+ years old and unmaintainable

Companies with internal data that needs to become a product

What we build

Engineering standards we hold to

Architecture Before Code

A written technical design document — data models, service boundaries, API contracts, deployment topology — signed off before development begins. No improvised architecture six weeks in.

TypeScript End-to-End

Type safety across the stack catches entire categories of bugs at compile time. Every codebase we deliver has strict TypeScript enabled and enforced in CI.

Test Coverage From Sprint One

Unit tests, integration tests, and contract tests written alongside production code — not as an afterthought. You get a test suite, not just a promise of quality.

Documented Handover

Architecture decision records, API documentation, environment setup guides, and a recorded walkthrough. Your internal team can onboard without us in the room.

Observability Built In

Structured logging, distributed tracing, and alerting configured before you go live — so the first time you see a problem is in a dashboard, not a customer complaint.

Security Review Included

OWASP Top 10 review, dependency vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and least-privilege IAM configuration on every project. Not a bolt-on audit after launch.

Technology

The stack — and why

We're not a one-stack shop. Stack selection is driven by your existing infrastructure, team expertise, and the performance characteristics of the problem — not our comfort zone.

How we work

From brief to deployed system

01

Technical Discovery

Week 1

Two to three sessions mapping your business logic, existing data, integration requirements, and performance constraints. We come with a structured questionnaire — not a blank whiteboard.

02

Architecture Document

Week 2

A written spec covering data models, service design, third-party integrations, infrastructure plan, and technology decisions with rationale. Reviewed and approved before sprint one.

03

Sprint Zero — Scaffolding

Week 3

Repository setup, CI/CD pipeline, linting, testing framework, environment configuration, and deployment pipeline established. No technical debt before line one of business logic.

04

Development Sprints

Week 4–12+

Two-week sprints with a working demo every cycle. You get a staging environment from week three — not a slide deck of progress.

Why Spacelinkers

Why this engagement works

01

We write ADRs, not just code

Architecture Decision Records document every significant technical choice and why it was made. When your team maintains this system in three years, they'll understand the reasoning — not just the result.

02

The build is auditable from day one

Every commit is tagged to a story, every PR has a reviewer, and test coverage is reported on every push. You have complete visibility into the health of the codebase at any point in the project.

03

We push back when the brief is wrong

The most expensive mistake in software development is building the wrong thing correctly. If your requirements have a flaw we can see — a data model that won't scale, a third-party dependency that's a liability — we'll say so in writing before we build it.

04

Fixed-price on scoped projects

For projects with clear requirements, we scope thoroughly and price with confidence. The number we quote is the number you pay. Change requests are scoped separately — not padded into every sprint.

FAQ

Questions we get before every software development project

What languages and frameworks do you build in?
Python, Node.js, Java, and .NET/C# on the backend — chosen based on your performance requirements, existing infrastructure, and the long-term maintainability of the system. For data-heavy applications we typically default to Python with FastAPI or Django. For high-concurrency systems, Node.js or Go. For enterprise integration work, Java or .NET. We document the rationale in the architecture decision record.
Do we own the code when the project is done?
Yes, unconditionally. You receive full source code, all assets, database schemas, infrastructure-as-code configurations, and all intellectual property rights. We sign an IP assignment agreement before the first commit. There's no dependency on Spacelinkers after handover.
How do you prevent scope creep from blowing the timeline?
With a written scope document signed before development starts, and a formal change request process for anything outside it. When new requirements emerge — and they always do — we scope them separately and give you a clear choice: add to the current project (with updated timeline/cost), defer to a phase two, or drop something of equivalent complexity. There are no surprises at invoice time.
What's the minimum viable engagement — can we start small?
Yes. We offer a paid discovery sprint — typically two weeks, fixed price — that produces the architecture document and project scope. Many clients use this to validate the approach before committing to a full build. If we're not the right fit after discovery, the document belongs to you and you can take it to any engineering team.
How do you handle projects that need to integrate with our existing systems?
Integration mapping is part of discovery. We document every system interface, API contract, and data dependency before writing code. If the third-party system has poor documentation or unstable APIs, we flag it early and build adapter layers that isolate that volatility from your core system. Integration failures are the most common cause of delayed software projects — we treat them as first-class requirements, not afterthoughts.
How do you ensure quality — do you have QA engineers?
We believe QA is an engineering discipline, not a separate job. Developers write unit and integration tests as part of every story. We also run dedicated QA passes before every major release — functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing under load. For regulated industries (fintech, healthcare), we can add penetration testing and compliance review to the scope.
What happens if we need changes after the software goes live?
We offer structured post-launch support: a 30-day warranty period where bugs are fixed at no charge, followed by optional retainer agreements for ongoing development. The codebase is documented and structured for handover — if you bring in your own team later, they won't need us to explain how it works.
We've had a bad experience with an offshore development team before. What makes this different?
The most common complaints: communication gaps, unmaintainable code, and a team that disappeared after handover. Our response: every project has a dedicated Slack channel and weekly video calls with the actual engineers — not account managers. The codebase is reviewed for readability and documentation standards before delivery. And we include a structured handover session where we walk your team through the architecture, not just hand over a zip file.
What is a discovery sprint and do we need one?
A discovery sprint is a fixed-price 2-week engagement that produces the architecture document, project scope, and technology decisions for your software project — before any development starts. It costs ₹60,000–₹1,20,000 depending on complexity. You need one if: your requirements are still evolving, you want an independent technical opinion on the right approach, or you've been burned by a fixed-price contract that blew up because the scope wasn't properly defined. The document belongs to you — if we're not the right fit after discovery, you can take it to any engineering team.
How do you protect our intellectual property and data?
We sign an NDA before the first call — not after you've shared your brief. The IP assignment agreement transfers full ownership of all code, assets, and IP to you before the first commit is written. Spacelinkers retains no rights to anything produced for your project. For data security: we work in access-controlled environments, never use client data for other projects, and for regulated industries we can work inside your own cloud infrastructure under your security controls.
