Apps That Users Actually Keep — Not Just Download

We obsess over the session before the feature — what a user does in their first 90 seconds determines whether they ever come back.

Who this is for

The app store is full of apps with 3-star ratings from users who downloaded once and deleted it. The apps that survive are the ones where the core interaction loop was stress-tested before the first line of Swift or Kotlin was written.

The graveyard of mobile apps is enormous. Most die not because the technology failed but because the UX was designed for the feature list, not the user. We prototype the core interaction — the screen a user sees 40 times a week — and test it with real users before we build anything around it.

We've built marketplace apps, field service tools, consumer fintech products, on-demand delivery platforms, and B2B workflow apps. The ones that succeeded shared a common trait: the core loop was clear, fast, and functional before we added the surrounding features.

What we build

What's different about how we build apps

Retention-First UX Design

The core interaction loop is wireframed, prototyped, and user-tested before development begins. We know which screen a user sees 40 times a week and we make sure it's frictionless.

React Native & Flutter

One codebase serving iOS and Android — with access to native device APIs, smooth animations, and performance that's indistinguishable from native for most use cases.

Offline-First Architecture

For apps used in low-connectivity environments — field service, logistics, healthcare — we build offline data sync from the architecture stage, not as a retrofit.

Push Notification Strategy

Not just technical implementation — a notification strategy that increases DAU without triggering the unsubscribe. Segmented, time-optimised, and tested against open rate benchmarks.

App Store Submission

App Store and Google Play submission managed end-to-end — metadata, screenshots, privacy policy, review responses, and expedited review requests when needed.

Post-Launch ASO & Analytics

App Store Optimisation, funnel analytics, crash reporting, and session recording set up at launch. You know what users actually do inside the app, not just who downloaded it.

Technology

The stack — and why

React Native for most cross-platform work — the ecosystem is mature, the developer pool is large, and performance is production-grade for most app categories. Flutter for projects requiring a truly custom UI. Native Swift/Kotlin for apps where platform-specific performance or system integration is non-negotiable.

How we work

From concept to live on the App Store

01

Core Loop Definition

Day 1–3

We map the single most important user interaction — the thing someone does every session. Everything else is secondary. This session produces a prioritised feature list and a UX brief.

02

Prototype & User Test

Week 1–2

A clickable Figma prototype of the core screens tested with real users before development begins. Cheap to iterate at this stage. Expensive to change after code is written.

03

Backend API Design

Week 2–3

API contracts and data models defined before frontend development starts. Mobile apps are only as fast as their backend — we design for latency from the first endpoint.

04

Beta & App Store Launch

Final 2 weeks

TestFlight/Firebase App Distribution beta, feedback integration, performance profiling on real devices, then App Store and Play Store submission.

Why Spacelinkers

Why most apps fail retention

01

We prototype before we build

A clickable prototype of your core screens, tested with real users, before any development budget is committed. The most expensive screen to change is the one that's already coded.

02

Backend performance is part of the mobile brief

Slow APIs kill mobile retention. We design the backend data model and API response shapes at the same time as the mobile screens — not after.

03

App Store rejection prevention

We've submitted enough apps to know every common rejection reason. Privacy policy requirements, data collection disclosures, in-app purchase rules — handled before first submission, not discovered in rejection notes.

04

We measure retention, not just downloads

Day 1, Day 7, and Day 30 retention rates are set up as primary metrics from launch. Downloads are a vanity metric. Retention is the health metric.

FAQ

Questions we get before every mobile app development project

Should we build native (Swift/Kotlin) or cross-platform (React Native/Flutter)?
Cross-platform is the right answer for 80% of apps. React Native or Flutter gives you one codebase, both platforms, faster delivery, and lower long-term maintenance cost. Native development makes sense when you need deep platform integration (AR, advanced camera, Bluetooth peripherals), extremely high graphics performance (games), or very tight platform-specific UX compliance. We'll tell you which category your app falls into.
How much does it cost to build a mobile app in India?
A focused consumer app with 10–15 screens and a backend API runs ₹3,50,000–₹8,00,000. Feature-rich marketplace or fintech apps run ₹10,00,000–₹30,00,000+. Enterprise workflow apps are scoped individually. We provide a written quote within 48 hours of a discovery call — and we include backend API development, App Store submission, and 30-day post-launch support in the base price.
How long does mobile app development take?
A focused cross-platform app takes 10–16 weeks from kickoff to App Store approval. Complex apps with custom backends, third-party integrations, or real-time features take 16–24 weeks. App Store review adds 1–3 business days. The biggest variable is usually scope changes during development — our fixed-scope model prevents most of these.
Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?
Yes, completely. We manage developer account setup (or use yours), metadata and screenshot preparation, privacy policy requirements, age rating questionnaires, and the submission itself. We also handle review responses and rejections — we know the common rejection reasons and address them before first submission.
What if our app needs to work without an internet connection?
Offline-first is an architecture decision that needs to be made at the start, not retrofitted. We use local-first data storage (SQLite, Realm, or AsyncStorage depending on the framework) with background sync when connectivity is restored. We've built this for field service, healthcare, and logistics apps where connectivity is unreliable.
Can you rebuild or improve an existing app?
Yes. We start with an audit of the current app — codebase quality, performance profiling, crash rate, and user reviews. We'll tell you honestly whether the existing codebase is worth extending or whether a rebuild from a clean architecture will be faster and cheaper in the long run.
Will our app work on older Android and iOS versions?
We support the iOS and Android versions that cover 95%+ of your target audience — typically iOS 15+ and Android 10+. Supporting older versions significantly increases QA time and limits access to modern APIs. If your user base requires older version support (common in rural India for Android), we factor it into the scope.
Who owns the app after delivery?
You do — entirely. Source code, assets, App Store listing, developer accounts (or we transfer ours to you), and all IP. We sign an IP assignment agreement before development starts. You can take the code to any development team after handover without restriction.
